Guimaras, Philippines

GUIMARAS TRAVEL GUIDE (DIY ITINERARY + BUDGET)

Guimaras is a small island province with five municipalities. It is possible to visit all municipalities within the day since it is among the smallest islands in the Philippines. To do so, the main transportation to use here is the tricycle.
Guimaras: Province in Visayas, Philippines
Country: Philippines
Coordinates: 10.5929° N, 122.6325° E
What to eat/drink: Mango Pizza, Mango with a Twist, Mango Coffee
What to do: beach bumming, island hopping, nature exploration, cultural exploration
Where to stay: ideal for day tours
Ideal time to visit: Best time to visit is during summer, before or after the rainy season.
Language: Filipino/English
Currency: Philippine Peso: 51PHP = 1USD (rough estimate)

HOW TO PLAN YOUR GUIMARAS ITINERARY:
1. DETERMINE THE NUMBER OF DAYS YOU WILL BE STAYING.
You can explore the island in a day. But for a laid back trip, you may stay for the night. You may take the land tour on your first day and avail an island-hopping tour on the second.

2. DETERMINE YOUR HOTEL LOCATION
In our case, we took a day trip to Guimaras and went back to Iloilo in the afternoon. If you want to stay in Guimaras, we recommend booking accommodation that are a few minutes from the beach or beach-front hotels.

3. DETERMINE YOUR IDEAL MODE OF TRANSPORTATION
Getting to  Guimaras:
Guimaras doesn't have an airport and the only way to access the province is via fastcraft/ferry/motorboat from Iloilo City. Here are the prices and schedules as of March 2020.

A. Motorboat: 15PHP per person, no definite schedule. You may line up when a pumpboat has arrived. Payment is made during the trip. Travel time is around 10-15 minutes.
B. RoRo Ferries: Schedule and fare: Travel time is less than an hour. (Source: Starlite Ferries, 2020
C. Fastcraft: Schedule and fare. Travel time is 15-20 minutes. (Source: Supercat, 2020)
Getting Around Guimaras:
- Via tricycle: Our day trip to Guimaras was beautifully captured thanks to Kuya Jojo (our driver and awesome photographer) and John Tumlos (tour organizer).

DAYTRIP TO GUIMARAS
We took a 7AM motorboat from Parola Pier to Jordan, Guimaras. Once we arrived at Jordan Pier, our driver & tour guide, Kuya Jojo is waiting for us. After our whole tour, Kuya Jojo dropped us at the Fastcraft terminal.
