UBUD, BALI FOR FIRST TIMERS: Itinerary, Helpful Tips, and Budget for Filipinos

Ubud is a must visit when you're in Bali. There were lots of sights to see: temples, terraces, waterfalls, monkeys, swings, cheap villas, shopping, good food and nightlife. For a small part of Bali, Ubud has everything.

TEGENUNGAN FALLS
We wanted to see as many places as we can (but also in a budget). Since we booked our hotel near the city center, our klook driver decided to start with the farthest destinations first. Although I insisted to visit the Tegenungan Falls first. Based on my research, this falls gets a little crowded, luckily, only a few people were there when we arrived. Tegenungan Falls is the most accessible waterfalls in Ubud.
GUNUNG KAWI TAMPAKSIRING TEMPLE & TIRTA EMPUL TEMPLE
The second place we visited is the Gunung Kawi Tampaksiring Temple, or simply Gunung Kawi. Going to the temple are a series of descending stairs with a views of a river and rice fields. This temple is one of the oldest temple in the area and small shrines are carved out of the rock formations.
Not far from Gunung Kawi is the Tirta Empul Temple, the holy water spring temple. It is a location for their bathing ritual hence, it is an important temple for the Hindu.
TEGELALANG RICE TERRACES
This rice terraces is one of the most photo-worthy destination in Ubud. Lush green grass, coconut trees and even a giant swing can be found here.

SACRED MONKEY FOREST
You haven't been to Ubud if you haven't been to the monkey forest. Although a few locations in Bali are also a home of monkeys (like the Uluwatu temple), the sacred monkey forest houses a lot more.
UBUD TRADITIONAL ART MARKET, UBUD ROYAL PALACE, SARASWATI TEMPLE
These three places sits right next to each other. Ubud tradtional art market is the ideal place for buying souvenirs and local art and crafts. Although, the products here cost too high rather than in Tegelalang Market and Kuta, the key is to bargain from 50-70% off the original price.

Ubud Royal Place is locally known as Puri Saren Ubud. It was once the house of local rajas or kings. Local art and Balinese performances are also held here.

Pura Taman Saraswati Temple, or simply Saraswati Temple, is a water temple located in the heart of Ubud. The path passing along a pond of waterlilies was the iconic design of this temple. Balinese performances are also shown here during the evening.
